The stress of living a modern life in Western countries definitely makes you think about sound stress management strategies. Even when the economies around the world were doing well, it was still important to cope with stress. Years of scientific research have proven methods that are powerful in coping with stress of any kind. How you think about it, is the really important piece of the puzzle. Much of it can be handled very well when you have the right mindset. Of course most people have to make a strong effort and that is part of the challenge.

People that believe that they have no control over their own life are usually suffering from the greatest amount of stress. That can be demoralizing and just serves to create the feeling of having no power in one's life at all. These feelings are not positive whatsoever. What you have to do is believe that you have control in order to start to have it. A variety of actions and decisions can be made to prove this is true. But it is usually the case that people are not willing to take the necessary action. This is going on in your own life, and in the lives of people that you know every day. There is a range of stress that is dealt with by everybody, and there is no reason not to think that everyone will face their stress differently. You should consciously believe this is true, even though it seems obvious. Some stress factors are more critical than others, and they need to be worked on first, so they need to be arranged in order of priority. With a good plan, you will be able to manage the highest stress points better, but they might not be eliminated entirely. And you never know, you may be able to significantly reduce some areas. There are a lot of things that cause stress in life, which can't be avoided, and there is not much you can do about them to begin with. Some things you will not be able to avoid, but you can control how you react to the situation. Getting organized by writing down everything that causes your stress to be serious, will make the situation easier to manage. Any area where you have some direct control needs to be identified. Your strategies can then be implemented, to get them out of your life, or control them in a better way. You may realize that you have more control of your life than you thought, which can make you feel empowered.

As for managing your stress, make sure the methods you employ are those that are most appropriate for you. Any stress management strategy is effective only if it's the strategy that you will stick with for a long time.
